LONG ISLAND CHAPTER OF NYSARA MEETING AT NYSUT

Don’t let anyone tell you that retired people are not active or interested in their future welfare because on April 28, 2017, over 50 retired union and community members met at the NYSUT Hauppauge office to attend a meeting of The Long Island Chapter of the New York State Alliance for Retired Americans (NYSARA) to hear about health care and the New York State Constitutional Convention.

Joan Perrini, Suffolk Retiree Services Consultant, welcomed everyone, and then introduced Martha Livingston PhD, Chair of the Public Health Department at SUNY Old

The 2016 NYSUT Community Volunteer Award was presented to Don Seubert of Sachem for his continuing volunteer efforts in the Medford community on June 6^th at the RC23 Spring Luncheon.

Before and during his retirement, Don has been active in the Medford Taxpayers and Civic Association, serving as Vice President.  He organized meetings and speakers and kept the community informed regarding many civic issues.  He worked on the 2003 revitalization of the Medford Train Station and the development of the 911 Garden, and continues to this day to lend his hand in the gardening duties there and also in

"The National Prescription Drugs Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for the abuse of medications."

Several collection sites have been established on Long Island for Saturday, April 30th, from 10 am to 2 pm:

Featured will be NYSUT Vice President Paul Pectoral speaking on the "Impact of a Constitutional Convention" and the presentation of the NYSUT Community Service Award.

NYSUT is holding a Retiree Conference for Councils 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 on November 19^th at the Watermill Restaurant in Smithtown.

The  conference will feature a Mini Symposium on Education and a series of Breakout Session on topics relevant to retirees. The 25th Anniversary Celebration will include an address by NYSUT Staff Directors and the presentation of Service to NYSUT Retirees awards to members of the seven retiree councils. Former Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy will also be honored during the luncheon.

The cost to attend is $32, including continental breakfast and lunch

Trip Full as of October 22.

Spend the day in New York City, beginning with a visit to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

Tour the twin reflecting pools situated within the footprints of where the Twin Towers once stood, and displays of artifacts and stories of the events of 9/11.
