Dennis Flamenbaum retired from the post of RC 23 president July. Stepping into the post of chapter president is Ellen Burke, who has served as vice president. 

Members of the executive honored Dennis with a champagne  toast at his retirement luncheon,  July 16th at the Garden Grill in Smithtown.  Dennis was surprised at the turn out of 30 attendees and was obviously touched by all the cards and notes of best wishes presented to him from members and the  a gift card from the Council.  At sad and happy event - happy that Dennis and his family are embarking on a new phase of their lives - sad

The AFT executive council voted overwhelmingly on July 11 to endorse Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic primary for president of the United States. To keep potentially dangerous medications from contaminating our ground water and to keep them out of the hands of youngsters, Suffolk County has implemented a program for the their safe disposal. Unused prescription medicines can be dropped off at any Police Station in the County. Many Public Libraries are also participating by having “Shed the Meds” disposal days. Check with your library for collection days.
